An authentic Montessori school for our changing world
Serving elementary aged children in a nature setting.

"Teaching children about the natural world should be treated as one of the most important events in their lives".
-Thomas Berry

The origins of the Montessori elementary experience are found in children daily spending time in nature. It is to these origins that we return.
Trout Lily is a member of the Wildflower Network of schools. Wildflower is an ecosystem of decentralized Montessori micro-schools that support children, teachers, and parents. Wildflower aspires to give all children and families the opportunity to choose high-quality, beautiful learning environments as they follow life’s unfolding journey.
Nature Based
Whether exploring at Moon Valley, our outdoor learning environment, or in our stewarding our neighborhood gardens and park, children are daily immersed in nature.
An Authentic Montessori School
The Montessori Method emerges from the belief that children are naturally good, peaceful and curious and that in the context of a supportive environment, all children engage instinctively in the work of self-construction. With appropriate freedoms and the right support, children follow their interests to create rich learning experiences, form peaceful communities, and support and learn from one another. We are dedicated to the preparation of environments and ourselves to support the development of children.
An Intentionally Small Community
As an intentionally-small, community embedded learning environment, our school allows us to serve every child and family in deep and meaningful partnership with their teacher leaders.
A Place for All
Trout Lily admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
